COVID-19 Calls for Creativity
The live music industry has suffered a deep shock from the COVID pandemic. Event organisers are facing a crisis from which many may not be able to recover. Globally, almost no concerts are taking place any more – at least not in the familiar setting.
“We love live music. It hurts that it is now unavailable in the usual way. Festivals are cancelled, clubs closed. We have to be creative to experience music even during a pandemic,” says Steffen Rudnik, Head of Content at gigmit. He coordinates the joint campaign with HARMAN. Rudnik adds: “The crucial question from the artists’ point of view is: Where can I perform now without putting people at risk? The established options are still relatively rare.
Play It Safe – Competition
A competition for exactly this question is intended to activate the community and raise awareness of the issue. Until 9th November 2020, artists can take part in the “WIN a PA to go” competition via gigmit. All you need to do is create a gigmit Artist Profile free of charge and answer the question “where to perform?”. The prize is an ultra-portable, battery-powered PA system EON ONE Compact PA system from JBL, including a Soundcraft Signature 12MTK mixer and two AKG microphones, as well as a production budget of €1,000 for the realisation of a “Play It Safe” Christmas gig on 5 December 2020 at your submitted entry performing location.
“We need to support music creators to the best of our ability,” says Michelle Downey, HARMAN’s marketing director. She continues: “Performing in the great outdoors is a natural choice with the JBL EON ONE Compact. We are searching for exciting concepts in places where normally no sound systems are installed. We are looking very forward to many creative concepts to play it safe!”
