Believe it or not, when you work at gigmit you discover live acts and DJs that blow your mind all the time. And you ask yourself, why the hell have I never heard of this act before?

Here we’d like to present our latest discoveries.

Reality Club From Jakarta

PICKED BY LISE

I discovered REALITY CLUB among the applicants of the 2nd edition of INDOOR INSPIRED Online Showcase. The Indie Rock band from Indonesia really stood out! Their repertoire goes from soft songs reminding of The Last Shadow Puppets such as A Sorrowful Reunion to more rock tunes like SSR. My personal recommendations: ‘Hesitation’ from the album “Never Get Better” and the Epilogue from the same album. The quality of their 2 records ‘What Do You Really Know?’ and ‘Never Get Better’ is exceptional from the first song to the last. A must-hear for all Indie Rock lovers! goes well with the gigmit team!

Additionally, the band also gives amazing live performances! You can rewatch their studio session at INDOOR INSPIRED #2 here:

Fran Palermo From Budapest

PICKED BY NATASCHA

I first came across FRAN PALERMO from Budapest recently, as they have been nominated as an INES#talent this year. Their music is a really interesting blend of different genres, mainly indie and alternative rock, including influences of African and South-American music. Consisting of 8 band members, they often include many different instruments, such as trumpets and saxophones, to create a rich sound.

FRAN PALERMO were also part of the INES Festival of Streams, where they presented some songs of their 2020 album “Crocodile Juice Bar”. The live performance has been recorded in a bauxite mine and is really amazing both visually as well as auditorily! You can rewatch their contribution to the INES Festival here or the full performance here:

Tuvaband From Oslo

PICKED BY STEFFEN

Do you know the opera scene from The Fifth Element? That high, clear singing from another world! That was my first reference when I saw TUVABAND live. That was on 18th January 2020, my last concert before Lockdown. The indie-shoegaze project of the bashful Tuva Hellum Marschhäuser played on her birthday as support band of DARJEELING at Hebebühne Hamburg with a German-Norwegian-Swedish line-up whose live sound clearly outshines the rather thin album production of ‘I Entered the Void’ which includes the magical song ‘I Don’t Feel Much Wiser’.

8 months later TUVABAND was Anchor Award-nominated for most promising emerging musicians at the Reeperbahn Festival. The new album ‘Growing Pains‘ will be released on 21 May 2021.

AYN From Amman

PICKED BY FLAMINIA

gigmit Team: Flaminia

It’s always rare to find artists who are extremely talented and also humble. That’s why, when I happened to discover AYN, while selecting artists for a Twitch featured live stream, I was happily surprised.

As electronic music passionate, her music and ability in mixing caught me immediately and got me moving at my desk while busy working. The rising female techno producer from Jordan is influenced by extremely different sounds and this is something that can be noticed immediately. Arabic roots are masterly mixed with western and exotic melodies for a very unique sound which has brought her to play in some of the finest clubs and festivals alongside big names as Seth Schwarz  ‘Sama’, Francisco Allendes and many others.

Her set for gigmit’s Twitch live stream (played in a very unique location in Jordan) was extremely powerful and entertaining, and it closed the show with the right kick. It was extremely nice to work with her and her manager, Jasmine, and I hope there will be further collaborations in the future!

Emmy Curl From Copenhagen

PICKED BY ANNA

EMMY CURL combines her dreamy sound with her own colorful art projections that she uses “to re-create and shape (her) visions, memories, and experience with Virtual Reality.” I first discovered EMMY CURL as an INES#talent from Portugal and later was mesmerized by her performance at our online showcase Indoor Inspired.

Emmy grew up in Portugal surrounded by art, music and poetry which becomes apparent when one indulges in her work that combines different forms of art and has therefore certain magic to it. And what is more, this multi-sensory experience is a one-woman show! I particularly love her visual art, her paintings, which you can also see on her colorful website catarinamiranda.com. Check out her gigmit artist page and book her for your next live show – online or as a physical performance. I know I would 😉 The album ‘Homeworks 15-19‘ is her latest release with lyrics in Portuguese.
