Brittani Washington On Live Streams & Home Sweet Home
The instrument at the heart of this extremely attractive home video gig opportunity is CASIO’s Privia PX-S1000. With hammer action and 88 keys, it is clearly the most compact portable digital piano in the world. Slim, stylish, smart, and even battery-powered if required, the PX-S1000 is the ultimate instrument for home and on the go. It’s a Design Award Winner too! CASIO brand ambassador Brittani Washington is touring as a professional musician with Beyoncé and has worked with artists like Jay-Z, Kanye West and Gnarls Barkley. In her hometown, she supports homeless musicians and abused women. We spoke exclusively to the lovely Texan artist about her positive experience with the live stream from her private room.
gigmit: Hi Brittani, how are you during the pandemic?
Brittani Washington: I’m actually being really proactive in learning new hobbies and ways to spend my time. I’ve been writing so much music and finding a great balance in my day to day life pretty much just trying to stay sane. I’ve also been taking time out to plant my first garden. I’m not travelling as much and it’s been great.
Casio sends our artists the PX-S1000 for their live stream videos. You also play this digital piano. What does it mean for you?
The Privia PX-S1000 means class! It’s super sleek and has so many amazing sounds that blow my mind every time I play it. I’m so happy to be apart of such an amazing product. I’m totally in love with the red model.
What is so special about a live stream gig from your home?
Filming from home is super relaxed and super personal. I love being at home when I can. I travel so much it’s like a vacation. All my creative ideas come from home so I’m definitely being inspired.
We can see you live on May 24th on classic-at-home.com. How do you prepare for a live stream?
I normally make sure I’m super hydrated! Lately I’ve been running 3 miles every morning, so that helps me maintain energy throughout the day. I try to eat a good breakfast and turn my phone off if I can so nobody bothers me with any stressful news before I have to record. Stressful news can be such a bummer.
What is your advice to the artists who suffer from their lockdown situation?
I want to tell all the musicians out there to cheer up. This is going to pass and before you know it you’ll be reminiscing on the times when you were on your own time. Live in the now and accept the changes as they come. We are survivors!
What will the live music world look like after Coronavirus?
I believe that the live music scene is missed so much that as soon as the Pandemic is over and clear everybody is going to have a new respect for live entertainment. I can’t wait to hit the stage again.
Brittani, thank you for the helpful insights and outlook!
