Axel Reinemer & the Jazzanova Recording Studios
“Everything is personal when you make music!” That’s why Axel Reinemer wanted to make his studio right in the heart of Berlin as personal and pleasant as possible. There are not many studios with direct sunlight.
Mac Or PC?
Don’t just do a nice recording and plan to do the rest in the mix. Put the energy in there while recording! This is also inspiring for the artist. “What I find very helpful is, if you think you’re done, leave the room. If it doesn’t grab you when you come back, then the mix is broken”, says Axel who has worked with R&B/Pop sensations Jason Derulo and Rihanna, as well as the score for the 2015 film ‘The Revenant‘ with composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Never Bring Negative Energy
Be prepared for any situation! Set up the most you can! “The artists have a lot of other stuff in their heads when they’re recording. Never distract them with technical stuff. Never bring negative energy over there, always have them trust in you.” In part 3 of this Pro Talk Axel also breaks down part of a Pro Tools session for a song entitled ‘Let’s Live Well feat. Jamie Cullum’ off the new Jazzanova album.
